Global assembly forecast

Our forecast provide an independent viewpoint on relative vehicle, platform and OEM performance allowing better-informed decisions about programme targeting and business planning.

The service is detailed down to the plant, project code, nameplate level and covers light vehicles up to six tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW).

Depending on the service level selected, the Autofacts assembly forecast is delivered as fully functioning MS Excel spreadsheets or via our proprietary on-line database query generator.

Global powertrain forecast

Fully-integrated with Autofacts’ light vehicle forecast service, the powertrain forecast is updated on a quarterly basis synchronously with the vehicle forecast. The forecast helps users understand and analyse the results of the powerful environmental and economic drivers that are positioning powertrain to the forefront of commercial strategy at OEMs and suppliers worldwide.

The data is supplied to the engine and transmission code, manufacturer and source plant levels. Manufacturing capacity is also tracked for major powertrain plants worldwide.

Bodystyle assembly forecast

Fully-integrated with Autofacts' light vehicle assembly forecast, the bodystyle forecast is updated on a quarterly basis and provides a detailed forecast of vehicle assembly by bodystyle type. In recent years, the vehicle market has fragmented enormously with significant growth of certain vehicle and bodystyle types. Previous clearly defined segments, and end users, are becoming blurred. This data provides an insight into the trends in vehicle bodystyle types and, in conjunction with the vehicle size segment data, allows users to analyse vehicle type and segment shifts that are taking place within the market.

Data is available for the European Union and North America for the seven-year forecast period, with historical data back to 2005.

Global capacity forecast

Autofacts is the industry standard when it comes to detailed, global capacity data. The data is often cited in the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, Automotive News and other leading media.

Depending on the level of service selected the service tracks at the plant level variables such as shift patterns, hours per shift, working days per year and jobs per hour to give a valuation of a plant’s operational capacity.

In a capital intensive industry where OEMs look to maximise flexible inputs into plant capacity, the operational measure gives a more accurate indicator of performance than normalised (standard days and working patterns) measures.

Forecast driver analysis

For both the light vehicle assembly forecast and the powertrain forecast service we provide:

  • Textual representation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for manufacturers and forecast regions.
  • Graphical representation of trends and KPIs for geographies and manufacturers

Forward Product Programs (FPPs)

Accurate and insightful FPPs are vital for anyone in the automotive sector wanting to plan future business or to benchmark against competitors' future business portfolio.

Autofacts has a fully functioning query tool providing FPP reports for all light vehicle manufacturers worldwide. The tool details vehicle updates, new bodystyles and new models together with risk and opportunity assessments for the vehicle lifecycle.

The tool also provides individual vehicle planning volumes and rolls the volumes up to the vehicle’s platform. All data from the tool can be exported directly to MS Excel.

Scenario forecasts

In today’s volatile marketplace, reliance upon a single-point forecast greatly increases an organisation’s exposure to industry risks.

To help mitigate these risks Autofacts offers upside and downside scenarios for all regions to complement the standard base case.

Scenario data is at these levels of detail:

  • Region; Country; Alliance Group; Assembler; Platform; Brand; Nameplate; Plant

Scenarios better prepare clients for market shifts, and allow for a more robust strategic planning and risk management process.
